Do you have a backup?
What would happen if all of a sudden you weren’t linked in? You lost all your connections, your recommendations and your profile.
We all know how important networking and creating professional relationships are when you’re looking for a job. This is why I love LinkedIn. It’s a great way to connect and network.
I know you don’t want to lose your profile, your connections and more importantly your recommendations so follow these steps and backup your LinkedIn account.
- Export your contacts. Click on Contacts, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click ‘Export Connections’. I left everything at default and ended up with my connections in a .csv file, which opens in Excel.
- Export your profile. Click on Profile, then click ‘View Profile’. Just before your ‘Summary’ begins you should see three icons: Share, PDF and Print. Click on the pdf icon. This exports your profile, including recommendations.
Backupify
You can also use Backupify. They offer archiving, search and restore services for online services such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Google apps.
Backupify states that the four most common causes of data loss are:
- User Error – Oops I hit the delete button by accident!
- Viruses
- Data Corruption
- Hacking
At the End of the Day
I don’t want to lose any of my information, photo’s and profiles. You shouldn’t think that just because your account is saved on some website that it can’t be hacked or accidentally deleted. Take a few minutes and manually backup each of your online accounts or look for a service like Backupify to do it for you.
